Four and a half skeins of Manos and an Ann Norling pattern. It's warm and soft and for the most part I'm pleased with it. If I ever make another one I'll probably make it narrower and shorter--a true capelet. The pattern calls this a capelet, but I must admit it's more of a poncho. But capelet just sounds cooler, doesn't it?
It's freezing here. I may have missed my chance to wear this baby as outerwear this year. It'll still be a good layering piece indoors, though. Maybe we'll get one more run of more autumnal weather before winter sets in for good so I can trot it out in public.
Posted by cari at November 9, 2003 11:31 PMIt looks great! "Capelet" certainly sounds more romantic than "Poncho" -- I think because it reminds me of Capulet. It's hard for me to believe that you're freezing. We still put on the air-conditioner to sleep, for pete's sake. But next year when I'm back in the frozen north, I'm SO making a cosy capelet!
Posted by: alisonIt's gorgeous and it looks so soft and comfy. I think we're in luck--there's supposed to be a short spell of crisp-not-frigid weather this week, so you and the capelet best be heading out on the town!
Nick is a very decent guy. I can confirm that the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a cool band, having seen them play last year. They RAWK.
Posted by: EmCool! I need to get going on mine. Well, actually my duaghter's. I think it's perfect for indoor layering. Most of the time I get too hot in cardigans, with a capelet you can free up your arms.
Oooh! Fabulous! Love the capelet; it must feel wonderful on with the Manos. I love Manos. Woofs to Diego...
Posted by: LisaThat is cool. I know my little pooch would love to curl up underneath while sitting on my lap.
Posted by: maxit turned out lovely. you are just piling up the finished objects lately m'dear!!
Posted by: carolynyou've finished something else?! good googly moogly. i feel like such a slacker. guess i'll just have to veg here in front of my computer and live vicariously through you.
keep up our great work! lol
Posted by: nakachiYeah, I agree. I think you may have missed out on the best time of year to wear your capelet. I wouldn't want you to get a cold or nothin'. So don't wear it. Nope. Matter of fact, I think you might be a leetle toooo tempted. Better mail it my way. I'll wear it in our temperate climes 'til yours warm up. What a pal I am, huh?
Huh?
Posted by: RachI love it! Looks very comfy and elegant at the same time.
Posted by: RebeccaMaybe you could wear it on top of a coat? That's what I plan to do with my caplet once I get around to knitting it.
Posted by: KarinOoooh, yummy! Oh, how I worship Manos' beautiful kettle-dyed colors. Delish!
Posted by: teresaLooks great! I like the length you have it. I agree it's seems to be more a mini-poncho than a capelet, but it's neat as it is. Make a capelet next! (Capelet is a cool word...seems like something someone very literary would wear. Hehe)
Posted by: BeckyCarrie,
I just started making the Ann Norling caplet. I am what you would call a "born again knitter". Anyway, I am having trouble with the increase stitch. What is it suppose to look like? I am confused by the directions and the inc before the PM and after. I, too, am thinking about making in narrower. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
