The big payoff to knitting for babies? Getting to see the sweet little things wearing what you've made. Here's my friend Rebecca's daughter, Olivia, in the sweater I made for her:

Oh, she's precious. And what a sweet sweater. Those cheeks are something else!
Posted by: reginaWhat a cutie. She looks very happy in her new sweater.
Posted by: JessicaSuch a sweet baby! The colour of the sweater is lovely too!
Posted by: AgnesShe is so cutie pie muffin-a-licious! The sweater is perfect for such a happy girl!
Posted by: ChristieShe's adorable - what a cutie patootie. She knows she looks good in that sweater, doesn't she? And it looks like she'll be able to get lots of wear out of it this fall.
Posted by: Stephanie VWI think I melted.
This also works with six year olds, by the way...and they're old enough to run around the neighbourhood saying "my maman can make anyyyyyything, c'est cool ou quoi?"
Posted by: Lee AnnOh, she's precious. And that sweater looks adorable on her! She'll be able to wear it for months and months.
Posted by: Karmabeautiful smile - color looks great on her as well! (does it come in my size??)
Posted by: carolynWhat a cutie pie! That color is beautiful on her. From the looks of her smile, its obvious she appreciates the handknit! ;)
Posted by: LizKitting for babies is a great :) And this is a perfect example of Cute Gorgeous Child!
Posted by: AlisonUbercute. And encouraging -- I saw that sweater, and it was pretty small, but it looks roomy on the real live baby!

Posted by: CassieOoooh! The cutey!!!!
A very nice color on her, too!
I don't know what's sweeter - the sweater and her in it, or the expression on her face that seems to scream - "Cari's the best thing ever! Look what she made for me!!!!" EEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Posted by: johnVery cute! I LOVE the color!
Posted by: ShannonMy ovaries ache just looking at her.
Posted by: EmWhat a cutie! And the sweater looks great!
Posted by: CaroleOK, get ready for it...AWWWWWWWWWW.
Posted by: JackieThat pictures makes the saying a picture is worth a 1000 words so true. What a cutey, and definitely a great pay-off.
Neat spider too by the way. I love creatures.
Posted by: RebekahEeeee heee hee heeeeeeeeeee!
Posted by: KelI really like how this little person looks in their bundle of purple. How cute! I'll have to make one in a neutral color for my friend who's baby will be here next year.
after you first posted this sweater, I quick made one for my friend's first grandchild, who couldn't wait until our yarn orders arrived to arrive himself. It's really quick to make so I whipped it up with some craft store nylon and they just loved it--i made matching booties with the leftover bits, too. I hope it looks as cute on him as this one does on Olivia-haven't seen him yet. BTW, apparently there were so many mistakes in the pattern in the book they posted the whole pattern revised online. So I got it for free! Thanks for the pointer. http://store.purlsoho.com/gr/book_corrections/pattern_childsplacketsweater.pdf
Olivia should be renamed Blueberry muffin. She's as cute as one in the delicious sweater!
Posted by: Nooi love my auntie cari!!!!
Posted by: OliviaUm, excuse me, but didn't you just learn how to knit, like 6 weeks ago?
I am totally disgusted with myself. It's not your fault, entirely. So don't feel too badly.
But I'm still afraid of cuffs. Lordy.
Going off into my corner now to sulk. WHAT a beautiful child!
That is adorable! I want to knit for babies just so I can take pictures like that.
This is unrelated. I found your blog because, ever since I saw "The Dreamlife of Angels", I have coveted the same sweater you want to recreate. Did you ever start that process? I will have to rent that movie again just so I can get a good pic (DVD) on my computer! Anyway, you have a lot of talent as a knitter!
