Crusty Kitty Redux

Attention tri-state area folk!

I found another kitten on the way home today. Sitting all hunched over on the same bit of sidewalk where I found Peony, by the way. I'm pretty sure they're related.

This one is, I'm almost positive, a little boy. He's crusty, just like Peony was. Peony was adopted by Iris and grew up to be a strong, healthy, fantastic little girl cat. This guy promises to grow up to be just as wonderful. He told me to tell you that. Here he is. He claims he'll clean up better than you could ever imagine.

I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow, and after that he'll need a new home. The dogs are going nuts over him, so he needs to move on asap. If you can take him either as a foster or forever, please let me know. And please pass this along to anyone who may be willing to open their home to a little orange boy.

Sooo tempting, but Joe would throw me and the cat out!

Oh my goodness. What a little mess he is. Thank goodness for people like you who will help a poor little thing like him. If I didn't live so far away, I'd help you find a home for him but alas, Texas is a little far from you ;-)

Good luck!

If it weren't for the immigration problem, I'd take him...but they don't let you do that without massive documentation. And this little guy's had enough trouble without all that crap too. Poor little love.

And by the way, you're wonderful, Cari (she said, trying not to well up and get all kitty-upset...). Good luck finding him a loving parent, asap.

OMG. If Trudy wouldn't eat him, I'd at least foster. I'll have an ask around, though.

Aw, the poor little baby! He needs some good lovin'. I hope you find someone nearby who will adopt him.

That poor little fellow!

Oh my goodness, that poor little thing! Auntie Cari, you are a good auntie.

Posted by: Norma

Cari, I totally love you.

That poor little chicken....

Posted by: claudia

oh dear, poor poor kitty. I hope he'll find a good lovin home soon.

I'm asking every cat person I know! I'd foster but Ty and Kelly would not be so happy. Nor would my allergies.

Oh that face. Good luck little Orangeino.

My mother attracts birds like that. Once I saw her look up, cup her hands, and catch a falling baby bird. You attract crusty kittens. If this is just another ploy to get me to move to Brooklyn.... well....

Too bad I live in another country. Little orange will probably clean up cute. You should post a picture of your last success story; that Peony made a very pretty cat, judging by the June '04 pictures on Iris's blog.

That poor Kitty! I'm sure you will find him a good home. You are obviously a kitty guardian angel :-)

Posted by: Janine

oh, the little crusty schmoo! He's going to be a cutie. You are a sweetie for trying to find him a home.

Posted by: Carrie

I'm asking around too. I'm sure it won't be long before someone snatches up the wee one.

Posted by: Em

oh my gosh, he's such a sad looking little guy. i'm asking everyone i know. i would take him, but we've had serious issues with sofie cat, so I don't think it would work out so well. bless you for looking after him, cari. you're a good soul.

Posted by: regina

Oh, poor baby. He's so sweet and sad. I'm so glad you found him and could take care of him and find him a good home. Wyoming is a bit too far away for the little fella, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that someone takes him in.

Posted by: Stephanie

How sweet. Reminds me of my first cat, Barney Rubble. He was a little orange boy too. I'm asking around, would he mind moving to Boston?

Posted by: Kat

Poor boo! I saw that picture and burst into tears. If only he was closer to Vancouver I would run over and pick him
right
up.

You're a gem, Cari.

Oh, fine, now I'm crying at work! Poor little grub... how could someone just LEAVE him to fend for himself?? It makes me want to get all "Animal Precinct" on somebody's ass, and drag him before an animal-loving judge.

Thank you, Cari, for picking him up and giving him sanctuary. I'm in Seattle; otherwise I'd take him myself.

I know a girl in NYC who has taken 9 stray cats into her home. I'm not sure if she is able to take more ... but sure I'll pass this to her. Maybe she can find someone.

I would take the little kitty in a heart beat, but I am sure the trip to Iowa would not be too agreeable to the sweet thing. Both of my cats are strays, one that I found in the street and one that I adopted at the Animal Rescue League. It breaks my heart to see such a sweet kitty in such a condition.

Oh dear. His poor little face.
I'm allergic and in another country and the only person I know in your "neighbourhood" is always on tour with his music. Sorry. My auntie just adopted a kitten who she found in similar shape (ear mites, fleas, the whole nine yards) and is very happy she did. He's in the adventurous stage and is causing her heart palpatations as he walks the railing above their stairs!

Good luck with the kitten!

Oooooh the poor little boo-boo-san!!!
I think I might know someone who would want the little guy. I'll find out and email you!

Cari,

I am a volunteer with an organization called "Cats Cradle" in Virginia/Wash.D.C. We can take the kitten in and find him a home if you haven't found one already. Please e-mail me and I'll give you contact information, or look us up on Petfinder.

Oh how I love kitties. What a sugar he is, too. My roommate has "allergies"...until he finds a hot girl that has a cat and thinks it ok for her to move in. I hope (and trust) that you will find a home for him. And thank you for saving him and giving him a chance.

oh! if only i lived in NY! or had room for another cat! but alas, my kitten keeps me busy enough as it is. i hope you find a home for him, he is terribly cute!

Posted by: Nova

Yes I am the 29th person to say how wonderful you are for helping that poor little baby, but you really are. I'd take him in a second if I could get him to northern BC. Oh, he's just so cute and little!

Posted by: karen

You KNOW I'm a sucker for crusty kitties. No room... must... resist... gah!!!

Posted by: Iris

oh, poor babe! i have my own adoptee kitty, and we're at least 1,000 miles away, but i am thinking good thoughts that someone deserving of this kitty will take him. poor little guy! i'm so glad there are people like you in the world, cari. xoxoox

I hope he is feeling better...orange cats have the best personality. I don't think I need to explain why I can't take him in, you are all too familiar with my current living situation...but I'll ask around.
