I'm in my twelfth week, due June 17th. This sonogram image (I assure you the baby was much less fuzzy in live-action) was from 8 1/2 weeks.
Oh, the knitting I'm going to do. I've already bought a few Dale of Norway baby books and am dreaming of colorwork sweaters with ducks and ladybugs and chickens, and am definitely going to be making a pullover with a sea lion on it. I'll post photos of potential baby projects in the days to come.
And hell yes, we want to know the sex. Life has enough surprises. I want to know who's in there as soon as possible. (For example, who is this person who drives me to consume and enjoy large quantities of orange juice when my logical brain knows damn well that I don't like orange juice.)

And yes, I had to know the sex of both of my kids ahead of time too. And I wasn't even a knitter back then.
Posted by: AmyWell, it's a boy, or it's a girl. What's the surprise in that? Three weeks passed already?!
Posted by: valentinaCongratulations! Your doggies will have a two legged sibling! :) I found out the sex of both of my children on the sonogram - I couldn't stand the wait! I had guessed wrongly both times...
Posted by: stephanieGreat! Now we can all knit fab baby gifts instead of pastel pablum.
You and Billy will make wonderful parents.
Posted by: claudiaI think S/he's already smiling.
Posted by: jackieCongrats! How exciting for you! I'm one of the few holder-outers who doesn't want to know (when the time comes!) - but I love to know when I'm knitting something! :)

As I told my sister when I heard I was first going to be an uncle, "That's gonna hurt."
;-)
Posted by: DavidUm, Billy? Might want to start thinking about an addition to the house. You know... for all the new yarn and knitted baby gifts.
Congrats, you two.
Posted by: IrisThe second I saw the title, I knew. And I also have to admit, I now have tears in my eyes...
Can I knit little person a black jean jacket? ;-)))
Hooray for both of you! That's wonderful news! May your little bean demand that you want chocolate. For the first four months, believe it or not, that's all I could stomach. Matzoh and chocolate. Bizarre. Then it was Korean food for two months.
This, uh, explains a few things about Twinkletoes ;-)
Bisoux!!!!!
Posted by: Lee AnnOh, wow! Congratulations!! That is just fantastic news!!!!
Posted by: DebDelurking to wish you hearty congratulations (and woo hoo for another Gemini - we're fun to raise!)!!

Posted by: Liz in Crystal Lakecongrats!
my heart skipped a happy beat when I saw the picture - I'm going to blame it on the rotation I'm in the middle of, but honestly I think the grin on my face is because you're going to be great parents. (the magical ultrasound that announces the gender is as wonderful as the "it's a ______" at the delivery...)
Posted by: KristenLong time lurker, just want to say CONGRATS!!!
Posted by: KatherineWooooooooooo!!!!
Congrats! What excellent news!
Another lurker pops up to say Congratulations!!!
Posted by: melissaCongratulations! Take very good care of yourself and the little one!

Posted by: CarrieAmazing! Congratulations! How many babies can say they've been to Ragdale?
Good job Billy!
Posted by: spaazliciousWOW - wonderful! Congratulations!!! Cheers!
Posted by: KimberliCari, Congratulations! How amazing! It must've made your residency especially... welcome. If you can believe this, I'm also starting my 12th week. My EDD is June 20th. So I can completely empathize with the need for massive quantities of orange juice and I'm imagining your time away was time well spent, but also included lots of naps. I hope you're feeling well and I hope everything goes as smoothly as possible. We'll have to share notes on all the strange things our bodies are going. :) Happy for you!!
Posted by: Karmareading your post brought back a host of memories.. craving milk like mad my first trimester, craving choclate like mad my third. calling the baby "she" during delivery, and still getting irked because the doc didn't tell me the sex right away.. lol. gonna be alot of fun! congrats!
Posted by: TeresaOk, then. Which Dale sweater? ;-)
Posted by: Cassiecongratulations!!!
Posted by: meowgirlCongratulations!!!
I had a thing for orange juice too when I was pregnant with my daughter. It was weird...first thing in the morning I'd go for a huge glass of OJ - to calm my stomach of all things.
Posted by: jeniCongratulations to you and Billy from a Swedish lurker who's been around reading your blog for a couple of months now....
Posted by: AnnaCongrats! And what a great due date (it's my anniversary). :)

OH MI WOW!!! COngratulations Cari!!!
Posted by: stinkerbellPS- I have knit the Dale of Norway ladybugs.... and would suggest you have someone else finish it for you. I needed a bottle of wine to get up the gumption to cut through all that pretty color work I did. And I needed more wine to mourn the ladybug I had to cut in half :)
Posted by: stinkerbellPicking up jaw...
Wow Cari! I am so happy for you! So many pregnant bloggers! I love having all of these little stories to follow.

Yeah! We should all do a CariBillySadieDiego Baby sock knit-a-long! It is the funnest way to use up left over sock yarn and you can't have too many socks for the wee one.

Posted by: AlisonOMG!!
i feel like it's my own sister who's pregnant! this is so exciting!
congratulations!!!!!!!!
Posted by: mariaCongratulations, you must be so excited (and tired!)
Be sure to do as much knitting as you can before the baby is born, because you'll be too tired to knit much afterward. I didn't knit for a while after my first child was born, (although I was getting my master's degree at the same time, so I really didn't have any free time!)
I really enjoyed the feeling I got making blankets for both of my babies.
Congrats again!
Congratulations! Too bad we can't see if the baby's got yarn-hair...
Posted by: anneCongratulations!!
Posted by: eyeleenHahaha, awesome! That is so so great! And I'm 'laughing' because whenever I fantasize about the kids I hope to have, the knitting I can do for them is a large portion of the warm fuzzy feeling I get.
It's really nice to hear this happens to other knitters, because I feel slightly guilty about it.
WOW WOW WOW! Congrats Cari, what fab news! A baby, a book, a new house, what a great year it's been for you!
Posted by: KristineTeensy!! What a cute fuzzy little- well I can't really tell what I'm looking at, but your insides are quite lovely, dear.
It was so good to see you! Wish we had more time. Someday when I've done my time in Ohio...
