It's (definitely, absolutely, no question) a boy

We had the 20-week sonogram today. Everything looks great, and the baby continues to measure a week larger than his due date (which makes me wonder why they won't change the due date, but anyway...) We know for sure he's a boy because he flashed us. He's definitely one of us.

What a face, hunh?! I'm already madly in love with him.

It is a very nice face indeed. How could you not be madly in love with him?

Howdy Junior and Welcome! Has your Mom introduced you to the needles yet?

Congratulations. Again.

Hooray! Boys are awesome. Now I know what colour to knit! ;)

Yay for a boy!! He's a looker, too!

"Help! Help! I'm trapped in here without INTERNET ACCESS!"

:)

Oooh, a boy a boy! There are quite a few great knitting patterns out there for boys. Sirdar does a great job as does Bouton d'Or. It takes a bit more searching, but they are out there and they are fabu!

Congratulations again, and what fun to know. Let the gender specific knitting begin.

Yay! Welcome to the world, little man! We can't wait 'til you're ready to come out and play. :)

Just don't you go stealing your mum's yarn too little man, be nice to her, and daddy, and don't kick her too much in there, ok?
Now that's a belly my dear - (in relation to previous post)

Hoyt! It's little Hoyt!

Hey there, peanut!

You should get one of those 3-D sonograms. They are amazing & I think in color too. I wish they had been around when I had my kidlets.

Posted by: stephanie

Awesooooome! What a sweet, sweet face. But where's the schlong? (is it wrong that I want to see that?)

Posted by: jodi

Yay! It's a blur! A cute blur at that :)
(I confess, I don't really see much in the sonograms, but I trust those who do)

Great! I am excited for you...I love having a little boy.

Posted by: Sarah

I could swear he's smiling. Um, Little Kid, could you please try to put the dragonfly back the way you found it, though? ;-)

Time to stock up on blue yarn, eh?

seein' the little ding-a-ling bounce around in the ultrasound is the weirdest thing, and my second favorite thing to look at next to the demon face. It's just so cool. Did you get a crotch shot? :)

Congratulations!!!

Posted by: melanie

That's a good looking kid you got there. Smart too. I can tell just looking at him.

Posted by: Juno

Hey there little boy! In all your blurry cuteness.

And they don't change the due date because all this stuff is still not a perfect science. Well really it's not a science at all--it's nature baby! So he's probably on the bigger side of average but still needs to gestate as long as all the other babies.

My guy was 2-3 weeks bigger than expected for date and he came along the day after my due date and was just a BIG baby. If you let them, most babies come when they're ready and not before--it's your first lesson in parenting--they've got free will and they use it!

What a little man! He is wonderful! My son turns 20 in March and I count my blessings every day! There is something magical that happens between a mom and her son...but I don't have to tell you..you know it already.

Posted by: delia

Aww! He's cute! That's great that he flashed you. My youngest son always had his back to us and wouldn't let us find out his sex. He was stubborn even before he was born. ;)

Posted by: Karen

awwwww... he's waving at you, mama! (That is his hand, isn't it?)

Posted by: Steph VW

He looks beautiful.

Posted by: amandamonkey

yay! my son flashed us at the ultrasound appointments, too. he also did the dramatic "back of hand to forehead fake faint because life is oh.so.hard" thing. he's 2 mos. old now & it's been one big adventure. a fantastic, exhausting, wonderful adventure.

and Andy measured a week "behind" the entire time, and the perinatologist wanted to change the due date, but I knew my conception date so we didn't, and lo & behold he came 9 months to the DAY after he was conceived. trust your body (and bebe's), not the machines.

"Already my plan to enslave them is working! Soon they will all be under my cute pink thumb. Stupid adults."

Posted by: David

awww....he really does look like he's smiling!

Posted by: Marie

what a mind-blowing experience that must be to see his face so clearly (although I'm not able to see the maleness, but I'm never good at making out ultrasound photos) and to be in love with someone you've never met yet are so close to already.

Yup. Boys are awesome. I have a big Boyo now, who's made me appreciate men in a whole new way. Congrats!

Baby boys rule! I love my 6 year old boy more each day. It's unbelievable being a mutha. congrats!

Mine PEED during the ultrasound. ;)

congratulations!!
always good to have a flasher join the family- nothing like a prude to fuss up the fambly dinner :)

Mazel tov! He's a beautiful boy. Can't wait to meet him (ex-utero). xxxx!

Boys is good. Mine is four and a half and absolutely postitively unquestionably without a doubt the Bestest Thing In The Whole Wide World.

And since he's Your boy, the problem of 'not enough cute boy clothes out there' that plagues the less creative of us will never bee an issue for him. Cool!

It's -- I mean, He's -- a boy!

(And I don't see the ding-a-ling, as Melanie called it, but I'll take your word for it.)

Posted by: alison

hooray! gosh, you made me smile with this post. thank you.

aww... so sweet.

At 20 weeks, the doc told me The Bean measured big. The whole pregnancy, my belly measured around 3 weeks ahead of schedule (and no, I didn't mess up on the conception date ;>). The doctors in the hospital told me she was going to be a 9lb baby and I kept telling them there was no way. Turned out that, because she was sideways, everything got stretched wonky and while my belly measured big and the sonogram looked big, she was only 6lb12oz. So, you never know.

Blessings to you and your boy!

Yay! I have two sons and a daughter, and my "baby" is now 6'3 and 19 and I still love him madly! This is the beginning of the wildest ride of your life! Wishing you health and joy!

The best pics, ultrasound pics ! Boys are fab ! :0)

Congratulations on having a good sonogram - it's always such a rush and relief to know that everything's going well!

Posted by: Marie

I talked to my dr about that very thing, and he said that the ultrasound machines assume that every baby is 7 1/2 pounds, and that is why the ultrasound pushes your due date forward. they are only accurate for predicting duedates in the first 6-8 weeks when all babies are the same size. So, like myself, you too are having a giant baby. Welcome to the club.

A Boy! Mothers, lock up your daughters!!! Very Sweet, Congrats, again!

Posted by: Julia

Lovely pics, and congratulations. Your beautiful boy is just the right size for him - not some average generated from a huge sample of pregnant women. And don't forget the EDD is nothing more than a fairly random guess too. He can come safely and in his own good time anywhere between 37 and 42 weeks, when he and your body are both ready. Happy knitting :-)

Congratulations!!

Oh, a baby boy! Congrats!

He's absolutely gorgeous!!
I kees him!! (is that weird??)

Posted by: pippy

He does indeed have a lovely face. So glad he's doing well. And flashing :-)

Cheeky little monkey.

It took a whole day of me staring at sonograms to get good enough to be able to pick out the details - and even then pictures aren't nearly as amazing as seeing all of the movement and how bits of a personality can shine through (though it might not be noticable til he's here and does something that feels vaguely familar - as if you've seen it before somewhere...). He's adorable!

due dates: are most accurate during the first 8 weeks - when an early sono is done. At this point there is a week or so error, and often they won't change the date unless there's a 2+ week discrepency. (due dates are funny things and often a mere suggestion of when he'll arrive....)

Congrats again on a beautiful baby boy! (has Billy felt him move yet?)

Congratulations. I'm so jealous. My friend just had her little girl. http://knitwitty.blogspot.com/2006/02/o-evil-day-if-i-were-sullen_01.html

I have NEVER seen a sonogram like that before -- you can see what he LOOKS like! That's amazing. Nice work, honey.

Posted by: Rachael

congratulations!! He's already gorgeous.

Posted by: julia

:-)

someday, he'll find out you posted this picture of him for all to see! :-)

Posted by: rebecca

i recognize the head, which is a lot coming from the worst sonogram viewer ever. and while i *think* i see why there's no question he's a boy, i can't be trusted to see these things correctly [in sonograms, that is] so i'll just congratulate you both on the up and coming member of the handsome brigade.
