Socks Like Rocks

The River Rapids socks are finished. They're my new favorite socks. Don't let the title alarm you--the socks are quite soft. (They're Koigu, after all.) The colorway (Koigu KPPPM #P315L) reminds me of river stones. I couldn't manage to take a photo that did the colorway justice. It's darker and richer than it looks here. Not muddy at all.

The pattern is from Sockbug (link to the pdf pattern is in her sidebar). I can see myself making several more pairs of these socks. The pair knit up in five days of not-so-frequent knitting on two circs and the stitch pattern was easy to memorize.

Now if only I could bring myself to put down all the sock knitting and get back to work on the baby knitting... All I want to do is finish up the second Child's First Sock and cast on for Eleanora socks again. I'll probably just go ahead and indulge the sock cravings. The baby won't need knitwear until September or October, anyway. Not that I'll need more knit socks again before then, but still...

Wow those look great...I recently discovered this pattern and I can't wait to make it...especially after seeing yours.

Don't worry about the baby knitting - I was more motivated to knit things for Felix after he was born....maybe because he is like a little model. No complaints and likes everything - it's easy!

Very pretty. They do look like river rocks. In a good way. :)

I'm on my second pair of these socks. The ones I'm working on now are for my mother-in-law for Mother's day. I've modified the pattern to use a tighter gauge. I'm working with Trekking XXL on 2mm needles, so I added another pattern repeat so I'm at 72 stiches. Since the pattern is kinda ribby it tolerates a range of sizes.

You first, baby later.

Your feet look remarkably non-pregnant and sock-happy.

Please don't think me perverse, but i would like to touch your socks. They're beautiful!

Do what feels right...socks it is!
Your River Rapid socks are a perfect color for the pattern. It's a fun knit and Eleanora is such an interesting pattern, too. You should have that one about memorized.

Oh thank god.

When I read that title, I had a mental image of a horrible felting accident. Glad that's not the case.

Those look really comfy!

You should do what you want while you still have time!

Pretty! They don't look muddy at all on my monitor. It's good you are giving in to your sock cravings. Your feet will be happy come fall.

Lovely. I love the colorway (which complements the pattern beautifully - or is it the othe way around?).

Oooh, I've had my eye kind of distractedly on that pattern for awhile. Now I want them immediately.

Of course you just *had* to show me another cool sock pattern. As if all my other non-sock projects haven't been languishing enough already. Thanks a lot!

I think that's the colorway I used for my travelling vines scarf - I love it.
