Overheard through the bedroom wall

My neighbor's contractor likes to sing while he works. Fine... He's got a nice voice and tends to sing salsa that I know and like. But this? Right now he's belting out "Born Free." And he knows all the words. Time for the baby and I to go to another room, I think.

But you know that song will be stuck in my head the rest of the day.

Wait...was he siging "Born Free" in Spanish? How utterly random.

Now I'll not only have the song in my head, but my thoughts will be filled with Elsa the lion streaking across the savannah.

Thanks a LOT. ;)

And now it is stuck in mine! Thaaaanks :)

Agh, that song is like a, like a, like some sort of mind polyp, it pops up and you push it down and it squishes out somewhere else and I can't get rid of it and [bellowing] "Born FREEEEEeeeeeeEEE, Free as the [hummmhummmhuuuum].
Agh.

Thanks.

Now it's stuck in my head too. And all I know is...

BORN FREE!! As free as the wind blows, as free as the grass grows, um something something something.

So my version is just that repeated eleventy million times.

Dammit, woman!!

Live free, dah dah dah dah dahhh dahhhhhhh... hmm hmm hmm hmm hmmmm!

My friends and I prank each other by singing "stuck in your head" songs on each others voicemail. "Born Free" has been on that list. The all time winner? "You Spin Me Round (like a record)". That one sticks for days...

born free to follow your heart...

How frustrating! Good to know that I am not the only person who will have it stuck in their head for teh rest of the day too.

Yeah, well, my neighbors have been trying to have a baby for the last few mornings.

ROTFLMAO!! Of all the songs to pick.

And now in mine! Thanks for that Cari!

I CAN HELP YOU FIX THAT - you can "unstick" a song from your head!! just sing "row row row your boat" three time IN YOUR HEAD, and they annoying song will be gone.

unless, of course, you want to have that song stuck in your head

Egad. If the singing's coming through that loud and clear I don't want to know what else you can hear.

I can think of worse songs to have stuck in your head, though. Candle in the Wind, for instance. Or You Give Love a Bad Name.

For some reason I find that image of the lion running through the grass with that music playing deeply, deeply funny. Always have. I know it's not supposed to be funny.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!! Brilliant picture and song.
Mr 6.5st keeps singing 'skyrockets in flight, afternoon delight' over and over and over..........

Posted by: Alison

You're free as the morning tide, so there's no need to HIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDEEEEEEEE!

I am embarrassed to say I do know all the words....

Posted by: Wendy

Man, it's like glue! I'm a goner for the rest of the day :)

Posted by: Donna

I know all the words too. Now not only is the song stuck, but the scene where he keeps the cub, and I hear her saying over and over again...Elsa, Elsa, Elllllsaaaaaa.

Posted by: Emily

Perhaps he is expressing some inner longing to be free of societal expectations and...

screw it...

BOOOOORN Freeeee!!!!! As free as the wind blows!!!!!

(someone may or may not have played this on the piano as a kid. Ahem.)

As if it wasn't bad enough. I started taking Wellbutrin to quit smoking and I can't stop laughing. I've been like a crazy person all day sitting at my desk, doing boring data entry and cracking up laughing. Now I'm doing all that and singing Born Free! This is worse than the week (yes I said week) that I got Delta Dawn stuck in my head.

It could be worse. Check out what Abby's upstairs neighbor was singing. Look at the very bottom of her latest post: http://abbytrysagain.typepad.com/abbytryagain/2006/10/studio.html

Great now I have a Spanish version of Born Free running through the ole noggin for the next week. ;) What kind of project could that inspire?

Posted by: Carol

At least he wasn't singing "Hello-goodbye"!
...na na naaa na...
...na na naaa na...
...hey, hey, hey...
...good byyyye!

:) There ya go!

"If you like pina coladas...and gettin' caught in the rain..." Just a little variety for the mental wheel!

We are redoing our kitchen which was gutted to the studs. Most of the workers have been content to listen to my NPR station. However the electricians preferred to chat with each other. The topic? How his daughter's teacher at a conservative christian school was propositioning the dads at open house. The coversation included who took her up on this. Ugh.
