Good, good, good news for the world.

Lawrence is posting his beautiful subway drawings again.

I love these. Intimate, stolen portraits. There's so much compassion in the way he captures his subjects... If you knew Lawrence, this would not at all surprise you.

My mother was an artist and similarly did a lot of subway drawings in her later years. Despite her being discreet, it would occasionally get her in a little trouble when the subjects caught wind of it. She'd manage to get off at the next stop.

Check out Joe Solman's paintings and drawings. He did the same thing many decades ago. Incidentally, he's still alive at age ?95 and still living in NYC.
