Dogs Steal Yarn

Lawyers are frightfully slow, aren't they? No offense to any that might be reading, but getting legal stuff to move along also seems so arduous. My fingers are staying tightly crossed and I'm thinking non-stop positive thoughts. I heard one bit of very disappointing news today: Portland's Music Millenium, one of the very best indie record stores of all time (at least IMHO)is shutting down after 30 years. Sad news for music fans.

Yikes. Everything is still crossed. Sending the good vibes and lawyer-speeding-up thoughts.

The process seems different here in Canada. We made an offer on the house through a contract passed by our realtor to theirs. The seller agreed and we put down a large deposit. Near the closing date we signed a bunch of papers with the lawyer and money changed hands through bank to lawyer to seller's lawyer on the closing date and we got the keys.

If we had backed out, the seller could sue us since we signed an agreement to purchase and we would have lost our 20k deposit.

Crossing, crossing...and sending best "hurry up with good news!" vibes to the lawyer network...

No lawyers involved in NM...just the title company. I had my personal lawyer look over everything anyhow...that's when it's nice to be married to someone with a big law school student loan! Good luck!

It absolutely blows my mind how fast people buy & sell houses out here. Make an odder and you could be in your new house in 30 days. Sell the house and the new owners could want you out next week. Wham, bam, here's your check.
