Eggs are so beautiful when they're like that. And I think blue ones are the prettiest of all. I've had fresh eggs a few times and felt that they tasted quite different from grocery-store ones.

I love the pale blue ones. My friend hens lay those and also pale green ones. They are so pretty...and yummy :)

Yum... and I was just looking at a recipe yesterday for asparagus quiche...

We kept hens when I was a kid - the eggs were so wonderfully delicious. The yolks were vivid and stood up from the white, and the shells were hard and thick... mmmm.

Yum! I wish I had chickens and fresh eggs. Moving out into the country is part of my five year plan :)

I'm *this* close to wanting to get some laying hens. But instead, I go to my local stores and get eggs (ungraded, unclassified -- I love that) that look just like those. Didn't they taste WONDERFUL? (as I'm sure you've already consumed them)

We move next week. Our neighbors don't look like the chicken-keeping types, but that is very cool. I can't wait to get to Portland!

very nice! We occasionally get eggs from my brother-in-law's farm. Not often enough, though.

If you get more, there's a great recipe in animal, vegetable, miracle for a savory bread pudding that is incredible. I mad it last week with sourdough, and it was really, really good. It does use milk, though. Is Thumper still lactose-intolerant?

We've been all about the soft boiled eggs for breakfast, lunch and dinner lately in our house. They are heavenly.

Oh yeah, there is nothing like fresh eggs! Our neighbors have chickens and we've benefited from that, too. We have an old pump house on our property that will become a chicken coop of our very own at some point over the next year. Whee! Love them eggs.

Beautiful. I don't much like to eat them but I've always loved the way they look. But isn't the baby vegan? Or is it just milk he doesn't eat?
